Airlink Network Security Camera an Easy Way to Monitor the Building from Your iPhone
When you go away with your family for a holiday for some days and you leave your home unattended, probably you are worried if an intruder gets into the house and steals your valuable belongings. Commonly you install such kind of CCTV camera to allow you monitor the house in a real time or you can replay the records later.
The problem will exist when you are away from the house and nobody takes care of it, how can you view the camera remotely? Actually the technology has been around for years. Airlink with its lines of wireless network security camera (with the newest firmware update) allows you to view the camera from your iPad, iPhone or iPod anytime, anywhere whenever the internet is available and accessible. With this way, you can feel safe and if you find something wrong for example an intruder gets into the house for stealing, at least you can call the security in charge in your neighborhood or call the police reporting a burglary attempt.
The Requirements
How can you implement this system? Firstly you need a wireless network environment in place. The wireless network must operate in 2.4GHz frequency band, or any dual band environment (2.4GHz and 5GHz bands) can be used as well. The network must have a broadband Internet connectivity as the gateway for a remote access. Should you build the network from the beginning, you can consider purchasing the wireless router from the same manufacturer in order to get technical support from the same place. For example you can install Airlink wireless N300 gigabit router.
Installation and Configuration
Assuming that you have completed the installation of your wireless network and is currently operational, the next step is to connect the wireless network security camera to the network. Use the UTP network cable and connect one end to one of the Ethernet port of the router and the other end to the Ethernet port of the camera. Power-on the camera and verify that yellow light (the power light) is solid and the green light (the Link) is blinking.
The next step is installing the software (SkyIPCam Utility) to your computer. This utility is used to configure the camera including configuring the camera IP address, changing the admin password and other networking tasks. You need to run the software from one of your computers that connect to the network. For detail installation and configuration, you should follow the Quick Installation Guide document. Up to this point, your camera is ready and connects to the network wirelessly and is operational. You can control the camera from your computer wirelessly.
The last step is to configure your iPhone to be capable of viewing the camera remotely via the internet. You need to download the SkyIPCam application from iTune Store for free. Follow the installation guideline document to complete the installation and configuration steps. That’s all; you can now monitor and view your security camera from your iPad, iPhone or iPod anytime anywhere wherever the internet is available and is accessible.
